During this exam, important factors like your height, weight, heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs are carefully examined to determine how well your body is functioning. Additionally, Dr. Bruner-Hill may test your reflexes and suggest preventive screenings if needed, ensuring you have a long and healthy life.

Screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is often recommended to men who are sexually active with more than one partner. Regular STI screenings are recommended every six months, as men don’t often show physical signs of certain STIs, which can worsen with time if left untreated.

For men who believe they have had exposure, we are happy to offer HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). This medication, when taken as directed by your provider, is 99 percent effective against the contraction of HIV if a partnering patient believes they have had an exposure. PrEP is often recommended to patients who have been or plan to be sexually active with an individual who has HIV.

Once men hit a certain age, typically around 50, it is recommended they receive regular prostate exams. During this exam, Dr. Bruner-Hill will use her fingers to examine the prostate and feel for any enlargement or abnormalities. Should she detect any concerns, she can further provide you with the assistance you need to ensure your prostate remains in good health. Prostate concerns, when left untreated, may develop into cancer, so it is important you follow up with Dr. Bruner-Hill regularly.
